Tim Gorter Architects designs residences that give form to our clients’ desires and are uniquely attuned to their surroundings. We believe architecture can heighten our experience of place, foster deeper connections with the landscape, and elevate daily life.
The studio is led by Tim Gorter, an architect and fine artist who brings the unique perspectives of both disciplines to his work. With this, creates buildings that inspire deep attention to the craft of their making, the sensory experience of living in them, and the landscapes that surround them. Our design process unfolds as a conversation between landscape, ecosystems, cultural heritage, and the aspirations of our clients.
Committed to ecological sensitivity, TGA develops strategies that minimize environmental impact without sacrificing beauty and comfort. Tim is a Passive House-certified architect and believes that architecture must be as much a steward of the environment as the people who use it.
Located in Santa Barbara, TGA draws on Southern California’s rich ecological and architectural traditions to create places that feel built with—rather than on—the land and that create contemporary experiences that celebrate the identity and heritage of the region.
