MAKE Architecture is a client oriented, design intensive practice, founded in the City of Los Angeles in 2008 with the guiding principle of providing refined Architectural and Interior Design services for restaurant, hospitality, retail, creative office, commercial, multi-family, institutional and residential clients. From the nascent days, their designs have garnered awards and accolades internationally, highlighted and featured by leaders of arts and culture such as Dwell, GQ, the New York Times, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Regardless if the project is a restaurant, hotel, amphitheater, or home, to MAKE, a successful project is germinated from thoughtful functionality resulting in inspirational spaces and places, positively impacting our daily experiences.
Why MAKE?
We are often asked why we have selected the name MAKE. Simply put, we enjoy collaborating with great clients to conceive exceptional design and see it built. We are driven by our passion for design, and equally understand that all projects must be founded in an understanding of the parameters within which a project exists to see them to fruition. Every project is founded upon our client’s goals and desires that we work to define at project commencement, and in parallel, we consider the overlaying restrictions the project must reside within and look for opportunities within those parameters. Each of these aspects are critical to a project’s success, albeit the zoning and building codes are not necessarily sexy topics, we enjoy navigating through them on the path to creating beautiful places and spaces. We commonly engage with the Planning and Building Departments early, to elicit clarity and identify any issues or concerns they may have, and we feel this engagement establishes a point of dialogue that builds a good foundation and helps to foster a smoother process and believe providing our client with information provides them the ability to better navigate their decision-making process. Our team uses this methodology for projects of various scales, from due diligence for larger scale development projects, assessing a site for possible development scenarios, to assisting clients with master planning, upon which the basis of their project can germinate. This approach is intended to MAKE good foundations to support the inspired design we collaboratively develop, and to see them MADE and enjoyed.
