Claret-Cup is a woman-led architectural practice with a multi-cultural team based in Los Angeles. Our projects are guided by the dialogue with our clients and a deep consideration of memory, identity, and spatial experience. We approach architecture not as an expression of form alone, but as a practice that unites context, craft, and meaning into enduring, elegant design.
With over twenty years of experience in residential projects on lots with complex zoning and planning requirements, we thrive in finding ways to make complex problems simple and guide our projects successfully from design through construction.
We use unaltered materials to unify interior spaces with the surrounding environment, allowing structure to take on intimate, tactile qualities, and we create spaces open to experimentation that support unconventional modes of living.
Our recent awards include the 2024 AIA CMACN Residential Merit Award for our MH Lair hillside house and a Special Mention in the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards for our Sun Villa Remodel (originally designed by A. Quincy Jones). Our volunteer and speculative work includes collaborations with the non-profit, Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design, and the Research Institute for Experimental Architecture in Bern, Switzerland.
