Having grown up in Southern California in homes that were in the Wildland-Urban-Interface (WUI) zone I have first hand experienced the devastation and loss that comes with fires. Through my studies, and subsequently through my career I have made it my mission to both educate and explore solutions to help mitigate the risks of living in communities that are adjacent to natural spaces. I continue to take and educate myself on the latest resources and techniques to fire harden a home from fire risk through various learning opportunities from both the American Institute of Architects and governmental agencies such as the State Fire Marshals recommendations as well as local governmental discussions.
