VLA specializes in residential and small-scale commercial projects set in the urban, coastal, and rural landscapes of California. We have additional experience in multifamily, hospitality and cultural projects, and at times design custom furniture and mosaics.
We begin each project with careful listening and observation, partnering with clients to explore new ways of thinking about both the beautiful and the functional. Our process is grounded in modeling, drawing, and close collaboration with builders and engineers, balancing design intent with technical precision and an awareness of construction costs. We guide projects through permitting and approvals efficiently and remain closely involved during construction to ensure that every detail reflects the level of thought and care that shaped the design.
The result is enduring architecture that feels personal to each client, prioritizes well-being for both people and place, and enhances the quality of daily life.
